4) Andros Townsend
There is a massive feel about what might have been for Townsend, both for Tottenham and the national team. He exploded onto the scene last season, putting in some superb performances for Spurs, along with scoring and being a massive influence in England’s final two qualification games for the World Cup. However, an injury he picked up has meant he has never quite looked the same since. He is often frustrating with his decision making and some do wonder if he was quite simply a flash in the pan.
However, Roy Hodgson has shown faith because to be fair to Townsend, he does seem to perform when given the chance for England, frustrating many a tottenham fan that he can’t do the same for us. Townsend will unquestionably have to develop his game to become a regular for England, along with nail down a starting place at Tottenham. A year ago he had the world at his feet, now it’s time for him to prove if he was worth all the hype in the first place.
