£54m defender ‘most likely’ to sign for Spurs this summer

Tottenham are already turning their attention to the summer transfer market, with Antonio Conte set to move for one of his former players once again.

Under Conte, Spurs have really settled into a 3-4-3 formation and in that back three, Conte has had to work with far from ideal solutions so far, especially on the left-side.

There’s no better solution then, to find a player that Conte knows all about in that role. Step up, Alessandro Bastoni. The Inter Milan defender was a revelation for Conte in Italy last year and his good form has continued into this campaign.

Now, according to a report from Pete O’Rourke of  GiveMeSport, Bastoni could be the player that Spurs really push for this summer.

“Bastoni could be a more realistic option for Tottenham right now,” Peter said.

“[Antonio] Conte and Fabio Paratici will know all about him from their time in Italy and he might be a more achievable target.

“That could be the one Spurs push for as they look to bring in a new centre-back in the summer.”

Another reliable source in The Athletic has also recently linked Bastoni to Spurs, as they say a left-sided central defender is a priority for the clu, with someone known to Conte, like Bastoni ‘most likely’. .

That makes a lot of sense given the fact that Ben Davies has had to play in that role for much of this season. Davies is more naturally a left full back and whilst he has done his best, his deficiencies in that position has been there for all to see.

Bastoni, alongside Dier and Romero would be up there with the very best defensive trios in the league and give Conte and Tottenahm a brilliant platform for which to build upon a very good side.

Would Bastoni be your number one choice for that role?
