5) Spurs are lacking a game changer from the bench
It was games like these where Spurs are looking for one player to step up and make that difference. The players you usually look towards are the likes of Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli and Harry Kane.
But what do you do when these players are not playing well? You would like to look towards the substitutes bench for a player that can come on and make a real impact. However, when I look at the Spurs bench, I don’t see that player. For me, whatever team that steps out on the pitch at the start of the game is very near to the best that Spurs have in the squad.
Over-reliance on certain players can of course be extremely unhealthy for the squad, and Spurs lack that player who can come on and inject a little bit of pace into the game. Strengthening his bench is certainly something that Mauricio Pochettino could look at doing over the course of the January transfer window.
