Reliable journalist says Tottenham have made an approach to sign £20m-rated Copa America star

It looks like despite their win over Manchester City on the opening day, Tottenham will still be busy in the transfer market this month.

Rumours continue to flood the media and we have a new name to discuss tonight.

Tottenham have approached Serie A side Cagliari to sign their midfielder Nahitan Nandez, according to the reliable Fabrizio Romano

Nandez is a 25-year-old defensive midfielder that excelled in the Italian division last season. Signed from Boca Juniors, Calgiari are said to have placed him on the market at around 25-30million euros. The Uruguayan international is valued at £20m on transfermarkt, so that price tag sounds about right.

Nandez also played a key role in the Copa America for his country this summer, coming off the bench at half time in the first two games, before becoming a mainstay in the team for the following three fixtures.

Nandez would provide more competition in midfield for Tottenham – an area lacking top quality depth. As well as playing in central midfield, Nandez has played lots on the right side of midfield.

He’s not known for his attacking output though, so potentially the club view him as an option at right back, an area of the pitch they are seemingly looking to improve on.
