The Kenyan had an excellent game against Manchester City before the international break, and he backed it up with another solid performance against West Brom on Saturday, and is slowly on his way to making himself an absolutely crucial part of the Spurs side.

He solely protects the back four with great efficiency, and his top-drawer protection of the defence has allowed Mauricio Pochettino to switch to a 4-1-4-1 setup, allowing one extra player to push forward and form an attacking five, a switch that Dele Alli has benefited from.

Stopping all potential attacks as early as possible in the midfield will be crucial if Spurs are to take all three points back home, and Wanyama will have to do a lot of work in order to do this. It remains to be seen whether Pochettino will put another defensive midfielder alongside him, but I am sure that the Kenyan will start in the defensive midfield position on Tuesday night.
