Bare with me here, but Rose’s comments are unacceptable and as crazy as it seems to sell him, I think the club have little choice. Get maximum value (around £50million) and replace him. There are players of his calibre on the market and certainly attainable for a lesser fee. Perhaps if Manchester United are to move for Rose, Tottenham could seek a deal involving Luke Shaw plus cash. He has, after all, hinted at a move to either Manchester City or Manchester United after suggesting he wishes to ‘move up North’ one day.

“I am reaching my peak and have probably only got one big contract left in me,” the England defender told the Sun. “Time is running out and I do want to win trophies. I don’t want to play football for 15 years and not have one trophy or one medal.

The 27-year-old clearly wants to up his modest wages and knows both Manchester club would offer him a huge increase on his current contract. If Tottenham can’t offer that (we know they won’t) then we need to move him and his negativity on from the club.
