4.30pm Update: Latest News On Llorente, Barkley, Janssen & Gaitan

There are just six-and-a-half hours left in the summer transfer window. Here is an update on the latest deadline day news surrounding Tottenham Hotspur and four players linked with moves to and away from the club.

Fernando Llorente

Surely this move will be completed in only a matter of time. Spurs have reportedly agreed a fee of around £15m for the striker and are edging closer to landing their man. The latest development in this transfer story is that the Spaniard arrived at Spurs for a medical with Mauricio Pochettino talking him into a move to Spurs.

If the Lilywhites were to complete this deal they would have snatched their target from under the noses of Chelsea, who have made Llorente one of their key targets over the course of the summer transfer window. Expect this one to go through before the 11pm deadline.

Ross Barkley

The future of Ross Barkley has been uncertain for quite some time now. We brought to you the story that Spurs could become embroiled in a deadline day bidding war for the services of the Englishman. However, since then we have heard from Sky Sources that Spurs have no interest in signing Barkley in this transfer window.

The Everton midfielder has picked up an injury that is expected to keep him out of action until November possibly, so it is believed that Spurs may wait at least until January to make their move. Arsenal and Chelsea are also reportedly interested after the champions had a £25m rejected for the attacking midfielder. Where will he end up this evening?

Vincent Janssen

With the move of Fernando Llorente edging ever closer, that deal could spell the end at Spurs for the struggling Dutch striker Vincent Janssen. The front man has been left frustrated by his lack of first team opportunities and his lack of goals last season.

Janssen scored six times in all competitions last season, just two of those goals coming from open play. Despite his poor goalscoring record in England, West Brom and Stoke are interested in signing the striker on deadline day. It may surprise you to read that Spurs could make a profit on this deal, a West Brom bid could be worth as much at £23m, according to the Sun.

Nico Gaitan

According to reports, Atletico Madrid have offered Tottenham their winger Nico Gaitan. They believe that the 29-year-old’s future lies away from Madrid, and have offered him to Spurs as well as West Ham. Watford are also reportedly weighing up a move for Gaitan this evening.

Spurs have made four signings so far this summer, but none of them have strengthened their attacking ranks. Fernando Llorente will bolster Mauricio Pochettino’s striking options if he joins, but Spurs will still be keen to strengthen their creativity. Could Gaitan be their man?
