CM: Eric Dier
Tottenham have been very firm in their stance that Dier will not follow Walker out of the exit door. He’s an important part of how Tottenham play right now and his flexibility to drop into central defence allows for Spurs to change formation in a game without having to alter the personnel. This makes him a very useful asset and one Pochettino will be desperate to keep.
CM: Mateo Kovacic
Spanish news outlet Don Balon (via The Star) suggest that Tottenham are interested in tempting Kovacic away from Real Madrid in search of first team football. Kovacic is every bit a Pochettino player and he would fit in perfectly with the Tottenham style of play, adding quality depth to the clubs midfield options. I don’t think it would take the 23-year-old Croatian long to cement his place in the first team – and I’m sure Luka Modric would have lots of nice things to say about his former club.
