3) Excellent Squad Depth

It was remarkable enough that Spurs managed to control the game and run out deserved 2-0 winners over league leaders Manchester City, but to do it without key players such as Harry Kane Mousa Dembele was even better.

Pochettino has invested heavily in squad depth over the last few years, and it was good to see Spurs finally get a new striker through the door in Vincent Janssen over the summer as backup for Harry Kane in case of this exact situation. Unfortunately the Dutchman hasn’t scored from open play as yet but has put in some promising performances, and I am sure will eventually find some joy in front of goal.

We have already seen how good the cover Michel Vorm has provide in goal is, and the two second-choice full-backs Ben Davies and Kieran Trippier and do their jobs very well. This squad depth not only provides backup if players get injured, but allows for squad competition, with players all fighting for places, which can only be a good thing and brings the very best out of everyone.
