Following a disappointing Champions League result at Wembley in midweek, Spurs must pick themselves up, and fast, because the next game against Sunderland back at White Hart Lane is just around the corner.
Pochettino has hinted that he may tinker with the Spurs line-up following the defeat at the hands of Monaco at midweek, and has challenged his team to be more consistent with their performances.
Danny Rose is the only player our for this weekend with a hamstring injury. Here is our predicted Tottenham line-up to face Sunderland.
GK: Hugo Lloris
The Frenchman wasn’t really at fault for either of the goals at Wembley in midweek, and they were in fact Monaco’s only shots on target. Lloris can feel confident of keeping his starting spot.
RB: Kieran Trippier
Kyle Walker played well on Wednesday, but with Pochettino hinting at rotations, Trippier could well find himself in the starting line-up on Sunday.
CB: Toby Alderweireld
Looked defensively solid for most of the game at Wembley, and I feel the centre-back pairing will remain the same for our return to league action at the weekend.
CB: Jan Vertonghen
The Belgian put in one of his worst performances in a while, the way he backed off Bernado Silva for the first goal was shameful, but hopefully Vertonghen will put this behind him and return to top form here should he start.
LB: Ben Davies
With Danny Rose still not in the picture for selection, Ben Davies should get another run-out at left-back against Sunderland.
CDM: Mousa Dembele
Dembele looked excellent following his introduction at half-time and bossed that midfield and showed exactly how much we have missed the Belgian in his suspension period. It is great to have him back again, and he should make his first start of the season here.
CDM: Victor Wanyama
Wanyama hasn’t quite lived up to expectation so far yet this season, but with Eric Dier starting in midweek, Wanyama could well get his chance here with Pochettino expected to make changes this weekend.
