Tottenham had to overcome a large amount of Bayer Leverkusen pressure, especially in the second half to come away from Germany with a point in the Champions League, maintaining second place in Group E.
The save of the night came from Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris, who somehow scrambled across his goal to keep out an effort from Hernandez, where is looked like to the former Manchester United striker simply could not miss. The ball was 50% over the line, but technology shows that all of the ball failed to cross the line.
Spurs grew into the game in the first half, and Dele Alli had a good headed chance to fire Spurs into the lead, but failed to convert. Vincent Janssen, still in search of his first Spurs goal from open play hit the crossbar before Erik Lamela saw his effort tipped over the crossbar.
Leverkusen made a change at half-time, and this worked massively in their favour as they surged forward in the second half, forcing Hugo Lloris into a world-class save and putting the Spurs defence busy, with Danny Rose making a couple of crucial blocks.

Tottenham have the best defensive record in the league, and Lloris has made some huge saves along the way to keep Spurs’ incredible defensive record, conceding just four goals in the Premier League this season.
Spurs certainly have Hugo Lloris to thank for their point in Germany, and many fans took to Twitter to heap praise onto the Frenchman, who made six saves at the BayArena with some labelling the stopper world-class. Here is how Twitter reacted to Lloris’ performance in between the sticks.

Hugo Lloris’ save tonight ??

There is no doubt that Lloris is one of Tottenham’s most important players and it is essential for Tottenham that if they are to remain in the Champions League and compete with the best clubs that they keep hold of players like Lloris. What he did tonight was just another example of how he can win this club vital points. Without that big save Tottenham would’ve been walking away from this game empty handed and would have been in a difficult position to qualify. I think his performance tonight just backs up the fact that he is a World Class goalkeeper.
