Spurs fell to a crushing Champions League defeat at the home of English football against Bayer Leverkusen, losing 1-0 in an awful and largely uninspiring performance. This defeat leaves Spurs in deep trouble and it looks like they will struggle to qualify from Group E as a result.
One player that put in a shocking performance was £30m signing Moussa Sissoko. The Frenchman has barely featured under Mauricio Pochettino since his deadline day move, but hasn’t impressed fans with his latest diabolical performance against Bayer Leverkusen.
Sissoko started out on the right, and stayed there for the remainder of the game at Wembley. We expected to see the Frenchman using his strength to beat a man down the line and get a cross into the back on a regular basis, keeping their left-back busy.
However, we saw the exact opposite from Sissoko. He offered very little down the right-hand side. When he was facing up to a defender, he looked clueless. It looked like he didn’t have a clue what he was going to do next. He rarely beat the left-back down the line, and when he did, it took a little bit of luck. Even when he did manage to get the better of his man, he far from took advantage, rarely getting a decent ball into the box.
The Frenchman misplaced way too many passes, completing just 60% of his total passes. Awful. Sissoko managed to deliver just two crosses into the box during the match, and both were of extremely poor quality. The 27-year-old won 50% of his tackles, but for a man of his strength, he should be winning more of those, pulling out of way too many challenges.
Spurs fans were furious with the shift that Sissoko put in at Wembley, and took to Twitter to voice their opinions on his horror show.
Could see why Paul Mitchell left. It’s clear. Splashed 30m on Sissoko when we could have invested that in Batshuayi. Awful panic signing.

Can you suspend Moussa Sissoko for more games, @FA?

I think Sissoko’s performance tonight is one of the worst individual performances I’ve ever seen in the flesh. Absolute car crash.

Awful tonight. Passing was shocking, lack of creativity, no real urgency, no passion and as for Sissoko ????

Sissoko only plays well when he can be bothered, which is about 5 times a season. Awful signing.

Someone send Sissoko back to Newcastle please. I beg you.

Sissoko is the perfect example of why you get your deals done early in the transfer window.
