Leicester manager Craig Shakespeare has revealed that Mahrez wants to leave the club to join ‘a top six club’ – Tottenham certainly meet that criteria, but it remains to be seen as to whether or not the club are willing to match the £35million+ valuation that Leicester have. You get the impression that as we move closer to the transfer window closing, Spurs may loosen the purse strings a little, and the price tag of Mahrez may well drop a little and a deal could be reached in the latter stages of August.
‘He wants to play for a top six club. If we don’t get an offer from a top six club, he stays,’ said Shakespeare.
‘It is quite clear for me at the moment, he has made that statement [of intent to leave] but he is our player.’
