The Spurs team of three or four years ago, and to a certain extent the team of the last three games of the season last term, would have collapsed and lost this game 3-0 or 4-0 after Hugo Lloris had a couple of absolute howlers in the Spurs goal.

It was a big enough blow for Spurs to go one goal down, but to go two down just five minutes later was a huge blow for the Lilywhites. However, when Spurs teams of past would have collapsed and flopped, we saw an almost immediate response from the visitors.

They started to show a lot more attacking intent, and they were rewarded when Kyle Walker found Dele Alli at the back post who headed into the back of the net from close range. Spurs soaked up the City pressure, and with a bit of luck in the fact that the home side were not awarded a penalty, found an equaliser.

This strong character and belief that Spurs have showed not only this match, but for most of the season is something that will prove to be extremely important if Mauricio Pochettino’s men are to mount a challenge for the title this season.
