After a lengthy rest, Spurs now have three games in eight days to negotiate in a busy post-Christmas period. Mauricio Pochettino’s men will be looking to keep pace with the top four, and can do that with a win.
Toby Alderweireld and Vincent Janssen are fit and available to play here against the Saints, while Erik Lamela is the only player missing through injury. Here is the Spurs predicted line-up to face Southampton.
GK: Hugo Lloris
It was an early Christmas present to see that Lloris had signed a new contract with Spurs. He will surely start in between the sticks at St. Mary’s.
RB: Kyle Walker
Was included the WhoScored Premier League best eleven of 2016, and rightly so. His form has been terrific recently, and I back him to start here.
CB: Toby Alderweireld
Mauricio Pochettino has said that the Belgian will return from injury and will be fit to face Southampton. He is a great defensive asset to the team, and I think he will make a return to the starting line-up here.
CB: Jan Vertonghen
The partnership between Alderweireld and Vertonghen is something that money cannot buy. Our defensive record has been excellent this season, and their partnership is key to that defensive success.
LB: Danny Rose
Danny Rose has been on fire in recent weeks, proving to be a real threat down the left. He featured alongside Walker in the WhoScored team of the year, and should keep his place in the team on Wednesday night.
