Promes has failed to agree a new contract with the Russian club, and will be looking to move abroad, and reports from the Mail state that Spurs have enquired about the availability of the Dutchman.

The winger has spent two seasons as Spartak Moscow following a move from FC Twente, appearing 58 times for the Russian outfit, scoring a more than impressive 31 goals in those two years.

The Mail claim that Mauricio Pochettino and his staff watched Promes in action on international duty for Holland, who failed to make it to this year’s European Championships in France.

Should he sign for Spurs, he would most likely provide competition and challenge Argentine Erik Lamela for a place in the starting eleven, with Pochettino a strong believer that competition within the squad is a healthy thing.

This would look to be a good signing for Spurs should the deal go through, seemingly by looking at his record, not only providing chances for his team, but also chipping in with a fair amount of goals.
