Tottenham target Jay Rodriguez could be given the all-clear by the medical staff at Southampton possibly next week as the Saints striker looks set to return from an injury that has kept him out of action for the past nine months.

Rodriguez was targeted by Spurs in the summer, but his return date was being pushed back, and back, so Mauricio Pochettino didn’t dip into the market to sign the striker.

With the Englishman’s return date potentially next week, there is still time to get a deal done before deadline day on February 2nd.

However, the Daily Mail report that both Manchester City and Liverpool are ready to rival Tottenham for the 25 year-old’s signature, and it could take a £20m bid to lure him away from St. Mary’s.

How well Rodriguez will perform in his first game in nine months remains to be seen, but clubs will have to hurry if they want to get to get the deal done in this transfer window.
