The Telegraph report that Tottenham are set to submit a bid for Aston Villa midfielder Fabian Delph in the coming days.

The London club have been linked with Delph since the middle of December, and are reportedly ready to make their move and alert Villa of their interest.

However, they could be set to miss out on the midfielder as he wants Champions League football, and neither Tottenham or Liverpool can offer him this at the moment.

Villa are believed to be keen to sell-up in January as they could lose Delph on a free transfer in the summer, and they are thought to be demanding at least £4m with Tottenham willing to match this.

The transfer could be complicated with the midfielder’s demands, as he could wait it out until the summer to see if either club will win Champions League football this season. Liverpool and Spurs could go head-to-head in the summer to sign Delph on a free transfer if January bids are unsuccessful.
