Reliable update on Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud moving to Tottenham

Tottenham have been active in the market this month and they could be set for more action on deadline day.

According to the reliable David Ornstein (The Athletic) Chelsea will not allow Giroud a deadline day move unless they find a replacement, and the hopes of that happening are fading rapidly.

And in the latest twist, Giroud may not attend Chelsea training tomorrow in a bid to force a move away. This report comes from SkyItalia, via GFFN.

It seems that with English trio Manchester United, Tottenham and Chelsea all in the hunt for new strikers on deadline day, they will either all get a new player or none. Giroud will only be allowed to join Spurs if Chelsea can do a late deal, and if they do open the door for Olivier, it seems the former Gunner would have no problem in moving to Spurs as he chases more first-team football ahead of Euro 2020 in the summer.

The Express are one of a few sources to claim that Giroud would be open to the move for Arsenal’s fierce rivals, but they also suggest that Inter Milan have a serious interest in the player. Of course Inter Milan are now managed by Antonio Conte, who was the man to bring Giroud to Chelsea during his time in England.

If I was a betting man, I’d say Giroud will end up in Milan with Spurs perhaps securing a deal out of nowhere for someone we have yet to hear about. Time will tell, but there are only 24 hours left for clubs to do business.
