2) Ross Barkley
You get the feeling that this Ross Barkley to Tottenham speculation will not stop until the transfer window slams shut at the end of August or he finally makes a move away from Everton.
Ronald Koeman has come out and said that Barkley will be going through the exit door at Goodison Park this summer, and potential destinations for the Englishman include Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester United. Spurs has been a club that has consistently popped up in the papers since the end of the season.
Everton are thought to be asking for around £50m for Barkley’s services, but it is highly unlikely that they will get that much for the attacking midfielder. Arsenal and Spurs have reportedly been confident of getting a deal done for £30m.
It was reported at one point that Mauricio Pochettino has identified Barkley as his number one target for this summer, but for me, it looks like the wrong target. His work ethic looks poor and his decision making can be abysmal at times. He doesn’t look like he has the right attributes to succeed at Spurs. Having said that, he could well become a Tottenham player by the end of this transfer window.
