Tottenham Set Sights On Young PSG Star After His Latest Comments

Spurs and Liverpool have been informed of the latest comments made by PSG teenager Jonathan Ikone, who has confirmed that he has reached no deal with Italian giants Juventus over a move to the Old Lady, contrary to claims made by L’Equipe that the Frenchman would sign a deal with Juventus.

The youngster has recently confirmed that a deal between himself and Juventus has not been completed when speaking by RMC, “Nothing is signed with Juve. I am still at PSG. I’ll take time to think.”talkSPORT are claiming that these comments have sparked interest from Spurs and Liverpool, who have both reportedly spent time scouting the winger over the course of last season.

Jonathan Ikone is a player that can play on either wing, but prefers to play on the left-wing, a position that Spurs perhaps are lacking in. Nacer Chadli is a recognised left winger that has been deployed in that position over the course of last season, but Christian Eriksen has been preferred over the Belgian.

Heung-Min Son has also played on the left side a couple of times, and this could be a position that Pochettino could look to strengthen over the summer months, although it is unlikely that Ikone would be a regular starter at the age of eighteen years of age. However, we said the same about Dele Alli when he first joined the club.
Ikone has picked up caps for France at U-16, U-17 and U-18 level and has accumulated a total of 29 caps and 14 goals across the three levels, so has had experience at an international level.

In my opinion, if Spurs are looking for somebody to make an instant impact at the start of the season and strengthen the side with immediate effect, then I do not believe Ikone is the right man to go for, but in terms of signing a young star with potential, Ikone would on paper look to be a good buy.
