The Telegraph claim that Tottenham did NOT pay £26m for striker Roberto Soldado, and are not likely to pay that amount of money anytime soon.

In an article run by the Telegraph yesterday surrounding striker Emmanuel Adebayor and his recent rants and outburst towards family members, the tabloid explained that just £13m was paid for Roberto Soldado.

They went on to explain that another £13m was due to Spanish club Valencia if he met certain targets, as Spurs had doubts that the Spaniard could recapture the form he showed whilst playing in La Liga.

With the striker somewhat underperforming in his first two seasons at the club, it is unlikely that these targets have been met, meaning that Daniel Levy would be able to keep £13m in the bank.

Here is what the Telegraph said towards the end of their article:

Tottenham paid £13m for Roberto Soldado, with another £13m due if certain targets were met, but will struggle to find a club willing to pay a fee for the out-of-form Spaniard. It remains to be see whether Levy will sanction a season-long loan deal.

So, it wasn’t that bad after all, but Mauricio Pochettino still believes that the front man can still find his feet in the Premier League, but will he?
