Stambouli Going Back To France Or Used To Lure Big Player From Rivals?

After just one season in the Premier League, Spurs are ready to sell French midfielder Benjamin Stambouli, with a number of clubs apparently interested in taking him off our books, one of which is Marseille.

Despite delivering good displays in the League Cup and Europa League this season, he’s found Premier League starts for Tottenham extremely hard to comeby and appears to be out of favour with Mauricio Pochettino. It has been reported that Marseille attempted to sign Stambouli last summer before he moved to White Hart Lane. Marseille president Vincent Labrune is said to have held a meeting with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy in which Stambouli’s future was discussed.

Another club being mentioned with the possible signing of Stambouli is another Premier League club in Southampton, which although may not sound plausible, it could lead to a very interesting sub-plot.

Southampton would want Stambouli for a fee of about £6million to buy him but it is rumoured that Daniel Levy would be willing to offer the Saints Stambouli + £20million to lure Morgan Schneiderlin to North London this summer.

The latter offer would be a very good deal for Spurs as they would bring in someone who’s a significant step up in quality from what we currently have at our disposal.
