Tottenham are reportedly willing to pay the asking price for Simone Zaza, should Juventus not take up their option to buy.

Tottenham Hotspur are willing to pay up to £12 million for in-demand striker Simone Zaza, report Italian website Tuttomercatoweb.

The Mirror had reported Spurs held talks with the forward’s agent last week, ahead of a potential summer move.

Zaza, 23, broke into the Italian national team earlier this season, picked ahead of Liverpool’s Mario Balotelli.

Tottenham’s path to sign the attacker is far from smooth however, as Juventus have a first option agreement to sign the striker this summer.

The Italian champions already have a talented strike force of Carlos Tevez and Alvaro Morata who have scored a combine 31 goals, although Fernando Llorente has been less consistent with seven and is one option to be replaced.

Zaza himself has scored eight goals and has two assists in 21 Serie A appearances, which is not necessarily a strike rate to bowl Spurs fans over hoping he can be a prolific forward they need, but his tireless work rate in attack makes him a good fit for Mauricio Pochettino’s pressing game.

£12 million is a reasonable amount for a player of his age and potential, considering the huge sum the club spent on Roberto Soldado who appears to be past his peak.
