Tottenham have been alerted to the availability of Napoli Forward Gonzalo Higuaín. The 27-year-old has been left out on the sidelines by Rafa Benitez in recent weeks, and the rumour mill is suggesting that the Argentinian is not happy with life in Naples.

Due to the exceptional form of Jose Callejon, Higuaín has been left on the bench in Napoli’s last 6 games, Benitez insists that the Argentine is part of his long-term plans but Higuaín won’t be content with sitting around wasting the peak years of his career and a move to the Premier League may be enough to lure him away from Italy.

It’s no secret that Spurs are sniffing around for a striker to replace both Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor with both seemingly on their way out of N17. Also they need someone to partner up with Harry Kane, the young academy graduate who’s been in exceptional form this season has carried the weight of the White Hart Lane forwards throughout this season and someone with the calibre of Higuaín would match up very well alongside the workman-like Kane.

Also if Higuaín did move to The Lane it would be a massive statement of intent by manager Mauricio Pochettino and the Board about the club’s ambitions and what we want to achieve and Higuaín would go a long way to where we want to be.
