Tottenham forward Emmanuel Adebayor has said in a recent interview that it will take time to ‘get used’ to new manager Mauricio Pochettino. The Togo striker has also said that it is tough for the players, rightly stating that this is the fourth manager to take the reins at Spurs in just four years. Tottenham are still trying to find their feet under Pochettino, and this showed when they lost 2-1 at home to Stoke on Sunday.

“All managers bring their own philosophies, the way they see football. But this is the fourth manager in three years, so now we just have to stop arguing about the manager.

“He’s a great manager and a great man and we just have to find a way so that we can try to understand what he wants to tell us and how he wants us to play and put that on the pitch.

Adebayor has also said that the player just are not getting what the Argentine is trying to get across,, saying that they are not getting the message. This could be down to a language barrier. Although Pochettino now speaks in English at all press conferences and interviews, without the help of his interpreter, his answers are very simple and he does not go into great depth with his responses. This interview from Adebayor could say that Pochettino’s English is holding the team back from progressing forward.

“If every player could do what the manager wants then we would win the Champions League. But we are not getting the message. He is a good manager, a good man — we just have to get what he’s telling us.

“We have to get used to him. He is the new manager and it is tough. Tactically, he is working hard, he is trying to make us understand what the opponents will try to do and what we have to do to.”
