Medical tomorrow: Tottenham set to complete another deal

Tottenham look set to complete another deal ahead of what looks set to be a busy few weeks for the club.

Spurs completed the signing of 26-year-old goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini on a season-long loan deal last week. That deal meant that keeper Joe Hart could leave. Now, Hart is set to join Celtic for a nominal fee of £1million, according to the Daily Mail

They say a deal should be wrapped up next week, with a medical taking place tomorrow.

34-year-old Hart has only played 10 times for Tottenham, all cup games. He signed a two-year deal, with one year now remaining on the contract.

Hart has found first-team football hard to come by in recent years, but at Celtic it appears he is being lined up to become the first-choice goalkeeper.

Whilst we don’t know the exact numbers, it is extremely likely that Gollini will be earning much lower wages than Hart did, so it is a positive move for the club to reduce their outgoings on a backup keeper. The £1million fee isn’t going to do much, though.

The positive of Hart being in the squad was he counted towards the clubs homegrown quota, something Gollini of course does not do.

Elsewhere Tottenham are closing in on two incoming deals. Nuno Espirito Santo is set to strengthen his defence with the arrivals of Tomiyasu and Romero.

With all due respect to Gollini, these arrivals are likely to be more exciting and impactful to the club than he was.

Bryan Gil is Nuno’s only other signing of significance to date, but if Harry Kane is to leave the club, they will need to strengthen further to keep pace with the clubs at the top of the league.
