Transfers: Tottenham aiming to beat Arsenal to signing of quality €15m full back

Tottenham could be in the market for a new right-back this summer.

Matt Doherty has struggled to impress since his arrival from Wolves last summer and Serge Aurier has been inconsistent in his performances over the last season.

So what’s the answer for Spurs? Well, they are said to be interested in Lille right-back Zeki Celik.

24-year-old Celik has two years remaining on his contract at Lille, and could be available for £13million, according to The Standard

Tottenham will have to compete with both Arsenal and Manchester United, who are both also interested according to The Standard’s report.

Take a look at Celik in action below

Celik is a well-rounded full-back and aged 24 has his best years ahead of him.

Celik is set to compete at Euro 2020 (2021) this summer and Spurs will be keen to tie up a deal before he catches any more suitors with his performances in the competition.

Celik is known for his strong defensive attributes, but he also has some good qualities going forward.

Celik averaged 0.8 key passes per 90 last season and managed 2 assists and 3 goals. An exciting prospect in terms of what he could add to the club in terms of attacking output. Defensively he really impresses with 2.5 tackles and 1.3 interceptions per 90. A concerning statistic may be his 1.9 fouls per 90 and 8 yellow cards last season.
