Report: Tottenham aim to beat Arsenal to signing of £40million playmaker

Tottenham are set to face a difficult and interesting summer transfer window. It seems Harry Kane will be on his way out and if he does, that presents Daniel Levy with a rebuilding opportunity.

One player the club could target as part of that rebuild is Norwich City’s Emiliano Buendia. In the Championship this season Buendia has been incredible, scoring 15 goals and assisting 16 in 39 games. Playing from the right, he wouldn’t be a direct replacement for Kane, but would help give the team more goals in terms of him both providing and scoring them.

This form has attracted interest from the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and Aston Villa, according to Sky Sports. With an asking price set at £35million-£40million, the 24-year-old will not come cheap. It’s an understandable demand from Norwich given Buendia was recently crowned the best player in the Championship.

Buendia predominantly plays from the right, but there is a feeling that he would be capable of playing in the number 10 position, or even from the left. Whilst we don’t know the next Spurs manager at this stage, having a versatile player like this will be appealing to any manager.
