Player Ratings: Arsenal 2-1 Tottenham

Tottenham’s hopes for a top four finish took a huge hit on Sunday as they fell to a 2-1 defeat against bitter rivals Arsenal.

Spurs took a shock lead with their first shot of the game when Erik Lamela scored a wonderful rabona goal. Arsenal’s dominance though soon saw them turn the game around and take a 2-1 lead. A late surge from Spurs following a red card to Lamela came to nothing.

Spurs had a chance to gain ground on Chelsea who could only draw this weekend. But now Mourinho’s men sit six points off the pace, albeit with a game in hand.

Here’s how I rated the players.

Hugo Lloris – 6
Matt Doherty – 3
Toby Alderweireld – 6
Davinson Sanchez – 6
Sergio Reguilon – 6
Hojberg – 5
Tanguy Ndombele – 5
Son (5) – Erik Lamela – 5
Gareth Bale – 4
Lucas Moura – 7
Harry Kane – 6

Man of the match: Lucas Moura. The Brazilian had another promising game for Spurs in the number 10 role. He single handedly nearly salvaged a point for the team and was let down by the rest of the midfield.

Flop of the match: Matt Doherty has to be the flop of the match for me. Smith Rowe and Tierney doubled up on him and got around him very easily. Bale has to come close as he contributed nothing going forward and did not help Doherty defensively. I thought Aurier was excellent vs. Zagreb and as we said on Saturday, should’ve started against Arsenal.
