Report: Spurs hope to complete swap deal that would see highly-rated defender join

Tottenham are looking for ways to be creative in the transfer market this summer. Following the signing of Joe Hart, we can see the club are looking at both free agents and possible swap deals in order to maximise what they can do to their squad during this summer.

Now, according to reports from Italy, Mourinho may be looking to utilise misfit Tanguy Ndombele in a swap deal with Inter Milan in order to secure the services of defender Milan Skriniar. The 25-year-old central defender is widely regarded as one of the best defenders in Europe and would be some coup for Spurs. Ndombele has undoubted talent but clearly lacks many qualities that boss Mourinho looks for in a midfielder.

In that respect a swap deal would make sense. With Jan Vertonghen leaving on a free this summer, Mourinho will be keen to strengthen his defence in order to be able to play the style of football he wants to.

News of a possible swap deal has been filtering through for some weeks now, so this is certainly a deal to watch. Whilst it would be a shame to see Ndombele leave, to have a player that Mourinho will use and want to use, would be welcome.
