Report: Brazilian ‘on his way’ to Tottenham following Mourinho talks

As Spurs start to consider how they will strengthen their squad this summer, they have been boosted by the news that a major international player would be open to joining the club, and a sports journalist has suggested the player is ‘on his way’ to Spurs.

As reported by Metro, in an interview with a Brazilian YouTube channel, Chelsea midfielder Willian admitted he would be open to joining a rival club, amid interest from Arsenal and Tottenham.

He may be 31 years old, but Spurs lack experienced quality in wide areas and with over 200 games for Chelsea, Willian has exactly that. His previous relationship with Mourinho should certainly help Spurs in negotiations to win what would be a tough battle for his signature.

Richard Keys, as quoted in Daily Mail seems to think he already knows Willian ‘is on his way’ to Tottenham. Is he stirring the pot, or does he have inside info? Either way, it certainly adds more fuel to an already burning fire.

With 70 caps for his country, Willian is a seasoned international with bags of Premier League experience. Since Eriksen left, Spurs have lacked a wide playmaker and Willian could provide that immediately.

The contract could be a big issue. Willian will have no shortage of suitors and with his super-agent Kia, you can be sure the player will be asking for a bumper 3-year deal and a substantial signing on fee.

Settled in London already, it is no surprise that Arsenal and Tottenham are the most heavily linked to sign Willian. Mourinho could well prove to be Spurs’ trump card – but is he the right option? Have your say in the comments section below.
