CM: Mousa Dembele
Dembele never fails to impress me when he pulls on a Spurs shirt. He breaks up the play and can turn defence into attack in the blink of an eye and him starting will be crucial to Spurs on Sunday.
CM: Victor Wanyama
I fancy Pochettino to go with two defensive-minded midfielders for the season opener. On Newcastle’s return to the Premier League they will be raring to go and so will the fans. It is important that Newcastle are limited on chances and controlling the game from the midfield will be key to achieving a positive result.
CAM: Dele Alli
Alli and Kane linked up ever so well last season and I fully expect Alli to start this game and look to provide chances for the man up top and maybe even get in on the goalscoring act himself.
CAM: Christian Eriksen
He was last season and will continue to be a key man for Spurs this season. He grabbed fifteen assists last season and he will be aiming to match that or better it this term.
ST: Harry Kane
Kane has started the last couple of season in fairly slow fashion and he would love to change this unfortunate trait. A goal here would take a weight off his shoulders.
