Spurs crashed out of the Champions League last night at the hands of Monaco after only five group stage games following a shambolic 2-1 defeat. Spurs fans were not at all impressed.
Spurs started the game brightly, but this lasted for only eight or nine minutes before Hugo Lloris came to Spurs’ rescue to save a penalty just ten minutes into the game. However, Heung-min Son had an excellent chance to fire the Lilywhites ahead just six minutes in.
A lovely ball was slotted through and Son was in behind a very high Monaco back line. He just had to beat the keeper in a one-on-one, but failed to even get a shot off as he tried to round Subasic. He was forced wide and the chance was gone.
Aside from this absolute howler, Son failed to put a foot right in the rest of the game. He lost the ball on numerous occasions and looked scared to go into any tackles. It was a terrible performance from Son, who was key to Spurs’ win on Saturday against West Ham.
Spurs fans were rightly furious, and this is how they reacted to the South Korean’s display in Monaco.
SON COST US THE GAME, HES AFRAID TO GO IN A CHALLENGE

Defensive display was nothing but awful. Midfielders were off the pace entirely and Son cost us a win. Lloris only one who cared

Embarrassing performance. Awful to watch from the first minute. CBs a calamity all night. Alli, Son, Dembele shocking. #thfc

@bbc606 #THFC fan, so disappointing and poor tonight. Shambles in defence Wimmer in particular and Son was terrible as well. Not happy ???

Son scores different game. Fact. Conceding after equalizing poor concentration not poor selection. Poch and players to blame.
