West Brom turn down Townsend – Berhaino swap offer (Clubcall)

Tottenham seem desperate to finally complete a deal for Saido Berahino, with talks set to resume in January. West Brom do appear willing to sell, but Spurs’ reported offer of Andros Townsend in exchange does not interest them apparently. It seems Tony Pulis’ side are after straight cash. How much is he worth to Tottenham? As a young English forward with big potential, you can expect the Baggies to demand in excess of £20million. Would you pay it? Sandro could join Tottenham for just £3million (Daily Mail)

Tottenham look set to complete the signing for Barcelona forward Sandro for just £3million, but as usual, the Spanish giants are demanding that a buy-back clause is inserted into the deal. Will Spurs agree to a deal that could see them develop a player, only to lose him later on if he’s a success? The 20-year-old forward would add attacking depth to the squad, something which is definitely needed in the January window. Spanish football ‘expert’ Guillem Balague has also said the deal is likely to be completed.

Domenico Berardi is in London – Tottenham transfer mooted (Sport Witness)

Long term Tottenham target Domenico Berardi is in London, but apparently only for his holidays. Sport Witness are reliable when sourcing quotes, and they’ve managed to find these from the Sassulo manager Eusebio Di Francesco: “Tottenham? Berardi is on holiday in London, he didn’t know anything and I asked him if it was true… I do not think there is basis, but then in football anything can happen.”

Seems like there’s nothing to this one, but let’s not completely rule it out.

Andros Townsend set to sign for Sunderland (Independent)

The Independent say Sunderland have won the race to sign Tottenham winger Andros Townsend. The Englishman had been frozen out at White Hart Lane due to poor behaviour. Aston Villa, Watford and West Brom had all been linked with a move for the 24-year-old but it now looks like Sunderland will get their man. Spurs may be sad to see Townsend’s raw potential go, but it appears his behaviour has obstructed what could have been a very good career. The Independent, who aren’t one to speculate, suggest Sunderland have offered Townsend a large wage increase on his current £40,000 per-week deal.. good riddance.
