Who’s Leaving & Who’s Arriving? Spurs Transfers For 2015/16 – Part 1

Many Spurs fans believe that there will be a big overhaul of players in this summer’s transfer window, after many windows have disappointed us in recent seasons, which the finger for these failings has been pointed firmly at Sporting Director Franco Baldini.

With Baldini surely to be given his marching orders this summer, or at the very least his influence will be greatly reduced if not cut out altogether, the transfer business will be under the full control of Head Coach, Mauricio Pochettino and our new recruitment mastermind Paul Mitchell. The duo had brilliant success at Southampton with the signings they made there so Spurs fans should feel optimistic that they can work their magic this summer.

Here is a detailed prediction of who I believe will be leaving White Hart Lane this summer and who will be coming in the terraces of N17 for the 2015/16 season. The aim of this is to bring in quality players, continue to develop and bring through more of our academy players and improve the depth of the squad for next season.

This article will be in 2 parts, in Part 1 the players being sold is the focus and Part 2 will detail the players we need to bring in.

Players to be sold:

I predict there could be as many as 10 of our current main squad of players to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer. Here are the ones I believe will be shown the exit door.

Emmanuel Adebayor – The striker who many counted on to lead the team has done the exact opposite to that. The man has been nothing but a disturbance to the players and to the fans that I’m sure will happily see the back of him after the end of this season.

Younes Kaboul – Appointed club captain, the decline of the French centre-half has been extraordinary. Errors made left, right and centre, accusations of lack of enthusiasm and care for his team-mates and conspiring against the manager has seen him plummet down the pecking order.

Vlad Chiriches – After a promising debut season at Spurs, the often kamikaze Romanian has become too much of a liability, making basic defensive errors which has cost us numerous times over the season.

Paulinho – Much maligned for not delivering on his great hype, the Brazilian has become a passenger in many games this season, despite some improvement recently he’s not a creative influence and he’s not what we need right now.

Roberto Soldado – A broken man. The Spaniard who we were all so excited, once upon a time, that he would answer our goalscoring problems, has become a dejected a forlorn figure of despondency as his confidence has been sapped away agonisingly with every miss over the last 2 seasons.

Etienne Capoue – Another one of the conspirators who’s value has been eroded after a positive start to the season, he’s been completely been up surd by the youngsters who’ve taken over his position over the course of the season.

Mousa Dembele – Someone who possesses so much technical ability yet continues to frustrate us by never delivering enough of it in the games that matter. The Belgian can be brilliant and dominate some games but he never does it enough in his spell in North London.

Benjamin Stambouli – Despite putting in some solid displays throughout the season, Stambouli just hasn’t been able to set the world alight. Arguably he hasn’t had the chances but when given to him, sadly he hasn’t taken those opportunities.

Lewis Holtby – Much loved for his energy and passion on the pitch, despite an impressive pre-season before he was sent out on loan, Holtby has struggled badly at Hamburg and seems to have it a dead end in his Spurs career.

Aaron Lennon – Our longest servant at the Club. He seems to have run his course. After some uninspiring displays, he went to Everton on loan. Azza appears to be out of favour and his stay at Spurs appears to be over.

That’s Part 1 out of the way. Now with the entire stink of deadwood removed from the Club we now need to find the outstanding quality we need to improve our side and ensure we have a successful season next time. That’s what’s to come in Part 2.
