Another Dismal Display- Player Ratings: Tottenham 1-2 Stoke

A dismal showing from Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs saw them drop to 12th in the table after a 2-1 loss to Stoke City at White Hart Lane. First half goals from Bojan Krkic and Jonathan Walters gifted the Potters a 2-0 lead at half time, and while Pochettino did his best to change the side up for the second half, the side could only muster a consolation from Belgian winger Nacer Chadli. Chadli’s 6th of the season gave but a minute of hope to the Spurs faithful as Victor Moses was falled by Kyle Naughton just a minute later as he saw red.

Hugo Lloris- 4

A quiet game for Hugo who had nothing to do except pick the ball out of his net. Left hopelessly open for Stoke’s goals as the back 4 crumbled.

Kyle Naughton- 5

One of our better players before his dismissal, showing more tenacity in the tackle than any of his defensive teammates. Will be missed in his suspension.

Younes Kaboul- 3

His version of “leading by example” went down the drain. Out of position and lacking concentration, Kaboul can be faulted for both City goals.

Federico Fazio- 3

Another poor showing from the Argentine who followed up from his midweek red card. Some of his passing was suicidal and was predictably caught on the turn by Mame Diouf.

Danny Rose- 4

Provided an excellent ball for Chadli’s goal but that was his only real delivery from wide. Failed to capitalise on Stoke’s lack of pace at the back and the space created by our inverted wingers. Very sloppy passing.

Etienne Capoue- 4

Went completely missing once again. Failed to protect the back 4 at any stage of the game especially when Bojan walked through to score. Subbed with 25 minutes left.

Ryan Mason- 5

Looked more eager to get on the ball than anyone else but it was still a pretty bad showing. Didn’t create any chances from deep as he was smothered in the Stoke midfield.

Nacer Chadli- 5

Brilliant finish to pull one back and was the only man to actively take the opponents on today. Still didn’t quite click and was guilty of failing to provide width.

Christian Eriksen- 3

AWOL again from the Dane, who was pulled off at half time again. Couldn’t pick any holes in the Potters defence and his corners were abysmal again.

Andros Townsend- 3

Failed to use the momentum gained in Thursdays man of the match performance here and was also withdrawn at the break. Typically for a Spurs winger he failed to do his two jobs correctly – provide width and put crosses in.

Harry Kane- 4

Probably should have given us the lead in the first 5 minutes but was very unlucky with his diving header. Dropped very deep at times but when he became the no.10 nobody filled in. Challenged well aerially.

SUBS

Mousa Dembele- 3

Atrocious performance. Nowhere near good enough.

Erik Lamela- 4

Took over from Eriksen in that neither created space down the middle or spread the play wide. Came close with a free-kick.

Emmanuel Adebayor- 3

Came on with half an hour left and completed 1 of 6 passes.
