‘I’ll Never Forgive Him’ Spurs Fans Slam This Man Following Champions League Exit

Spurs were dumped out of the Champions League after just five group stage matches following a shambolic 2-1 defeat at the hands of group winners Monaco.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men went to Monaco knowing that they realistically needed a win to stand a reasonable chance of progressing to the last 16, but they had the fact in the back of their mind after CSKA’s 1-1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen, that a point would have been enough for now.

However, Spurs put in a shambolic first half performance, the highlight of which being Heung-min Son failing to convert a one-on-one chance with the Monaco keeper, failing to even get a shot off. Minutes later, Hugo Lloris saved a penalty and kept Spurs in the game, and were lucky to go into the break level.

Spurs fell behind shortly after the break, but were handed a lifeline when Dele Alli was fouled inside the box, and the referee pointed to the spot. Harry Kane stepped up to score his third penalty in three and fire Spurs back into contention. But in less than a minute, Spurs found themselves behind again. This time they did not recover and were dumped out of the Champions League.

Question marks were raised at the start of the evening regarding Mauricio Pochettino’s team selection, that saw both Jan Vertonghen and Christian Eriksen drop to the bench. It seemed that the Argentine was looking ahead to the Premier League clash with Chelsea on Saturday.

This caused huge anger among many Spurs fans, and failed to see how Pochettino failed to field his strongest team in a match of such great importance. Here is how they reacted on Twitter following the defeat, directing a lot of criticism towards the Spurs manager.

‘Better Than Modric’ Spurs Fans Delighted With Midfielder In Dramatic West Ham Win

Spurs survived a huge scare in the Premier League at White Hart Lane as they came from behind to win 3-2 against London rivals West Ham in dramatic style.

The Lilywhites fell behind midway through the first half as Michail Antonio headed in from close range, and failed to recover in the first half, going into the break a goal down.

Spurs started the second half with a much higher tempo, and were rewarded six minutes into the second half. Vincent Janssen saw his strike saved by Darren Randolph, but Harry Winks on his full debut was there to score with the follow up.

Vincent Janssen was caught pulling Winston Reid in the box and Mike Dean pointed to the spot for the Dutchman’s infringement. Manuel Lanzini stepped up to fire the Hammers ahead once again.

Dele Alli and Heung-min Son were brought on by Mauricio Pochettino and both had positive impacts, especially the latter. Son did well down the left and pulled back for Harry Kane to tap in with just a couple of minutes of normal time to go.

Son got down the right again just a minute later and was brought down inside the box. Mike Dean correctly pointed to the spot again and Harry Kane kept calm to score his third goal in two games since returning from injury.

Harry Winks made his full debut and impressed many with an excellent display. The youngster looked to make a difference from the start and was involved in Spurs’ best moves more often than not.

Winks was the brightest spark when others looked uninspiring, and was unlucky not to receive the Man of the Match award, and surely would have done if Harry Kane had not popped up with two late goals. Here is how Spurs fans reacted to Winks’ first Premier League start.

‘Absolute Monster’ Spurs Fans Rave Over Midfielders Performance In Draw With Arsenal

Spurs recovered from a poor string of performances to put in a spirited performance and snatch a point off Arsenal at the Emirates in the North London derby. There was one player that caught the eye of the Tottenham fans during the 1-1 draw, and fans were full of praise for him on Twitter.

Spurs went into the game having not won since October 2, and although that record remains, Mauricio Pochettino will have been the happier of the two managers given Spurs’ recent form. When will Spurs get their next win? Check out the latest football tips.

Mauricio Pochettino needed a bigger performance from his Spurs players, and with injuries to key players such as Erik Lamela and Dele Alli, Pochettino lacked natural width in his side. To deal with this burning issue, the Spurs boss set his team up in a 3-4-3 formation. The three centre-backs managed to deal with most of what Arsenal threw at them, and the wing-backs caused problems down the other end. All in all, it was a good performance from Spurs, and it makes you wonder, will Pochettino go on into November and beyond with a 3-4-3 formation?

A Kevin Wimmer howler handed Arsenal the lead just before the break, in what was arguably Arsenal’s best spell of the match, having dealt with an early Spurs storm, that saw Harry Kane head just wide of the post.

However, Spurs came out from the break the stronger of the two sides, and Mousa Dembele made a strong run into the box before winning a penalty. Harry Kane stepped up on his return to earn Spurs a share of the spoils on his return from injury, going down the middle from twelve yards out.

Mousa Dembele earned the Man of the Match award in the derby, and rightly so in my opinion. He provided excellent protection for the Spurs back three. He completed 89% of his passes, made two interceptions and three blocks in what was an excellent performance from the Belgian. Here is how Spurs fans reacted to the magnificent display.

‘Worst Performance I’ve Ever Seen In The Flesh’ Spurs Fans Furious With Midfielder Following Leverkusen Defeat

Spurs fell to a crushing Champions League defeat at the home of English football against Bayer Leverkusen, losing 1-0 in an awful and largely uninspiring performance. This defeat leaves Spurs in deep trouble and it looks like they will struggle to qualify from Group E as a result.

One player that put in a shocking performance was £30m signing Moussa Sissoko. The Frenchman has barely featured under Mauricio Pochettino since his deadline day move, but hasn’t impressed fans with his latest diabolical performance against Bayer Leverkusen.

Sissoko started out on the right, and stayed there for the remainder of the game at Wembley. We expected to see the Frenchman using his strength to beat a man down the line and get a cross into the back on a regular basis, keeping their left-back busy.

However, we saw the exact opposite from Sissoko. He offered very little down the right-hand side. When he was facing up to a defender, he looked clueless. It looked like he didn’t have a clue what he was going to do next. He rarely beat the left-back down the line, and when he did, it took a little bit of luck. Even when he did manage to get the better of his man, he far from took advantage, rarely getting a decent ball into the box.

The Frenchman misplaced way too many passes, completing just 60% of his total passes. Awful. Sissoko managed to deliver just two crosses into the box during the match, and both were of extremely poor quality. The 27-year-old won 50% of his tackles, but for a man of his strength, he should be winning more of those, pulling out of way too many challenges.

Spurs fans were furious with the shift that Sissoko put in at Wembley, and took to Twitter to voice their opinions on his horror show.

‘Gifts From God’ Spurs Fans React To Superb Display From Defender In Draw Against Leicester

Spurs could only manage a draw against Premier League champions Leicester when two title rivals of last season met at White Hart Lane. Vincent Janssen’s strike from twelve yards just before the break was cancelled out by an Ahmed Musa goal just after half-time.

One player that stood out for Mauricio Pochettino’s men in the draw was defender Jan Vertonghen, and was one of the few positives Spurs fans could take from the game at White Hart Lane.

Vincent Janssen scored his third goal in a Spurs shirt, but we are still waiting to see the Dutchman’s first goal from open play, with all three of his goals for Tottenham coming from twelve yards out.

The draw with Claudio Ranieri’s side sees Tottenham’s unbeaten record in the Premier League extended, but Spurs have not won a game this side of the international break. We have witnessed draws with West Brom, Bayer Leverkusen Bournemouth and Leicester for Spurs in addition to being beaten in the EFL Cup by Liverpool. Mauricio Pochettino’s side are now in desperate need for a win heading into November, having not won since 2nd October in all competitions.

Despite not receiving a positive result, Jan Vertonghen had a brilliant game in the Spurs back line, and came close to snatching all three points, hitting the crossbar with three minutes to go. Here is how fans reacted to his performance on Twitter.

Jan Vertonghen has been without familiar centre-back Toby Alderweireld over the last couple of weeks, and we questioned how the Spurs defence would hold up without the Belgian. Vertonghen has really stepped up in Alderweireld’s absence, with Spurs conceding just one goal when he has been playing alongside Eric Dier in the heart of the defence.

Spurs have the best defensive record in the Premier League, conceding just five league goals all season, and it is no wonder why when they have quality defenders such as Vertonghen and Alderweireld in the squad.

‘Finally Getting Some Recognition’ Fans React To Spurs Goalkeeper’s Inclusion In Ballon d’Or Shortlist

It was yesterday officially confirmed that Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris has made the 30-man nominee list for the Ballon d’Or, with the full list of nominees announced throughout Monday and the winner set to be announced on awards evening in January.

The Spurs goalkeeper made kit onto the nominee list for the prestigious award and joins big names such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and former Tottenham man Gareth Bale.

As well as Kevin De Bryne, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba making their way onto the list, Riyad Mahrez along with Jamie Vardy, Sergio Aguero and Dimitri Payet are the only players on the list to have played in the Premier League last season.

Lloris joins three other goalkeepers that have made it into the shortlist, those being Manuel Neuer, Rui Patricio and Gianluigi Buffon.

Spurs fans took to Twitter to react to the news that their goalkeeper had made it onto the list of Ballon d’Or nominees.

Lloris has been a crucial part of the Spurs team, and has made a large number of key saves to keep Spurs in games over the years since he joined the club, making the switch to White Hart Lane.

Saves against Bayer Leverkusen and Bournemouth show just how valuable the Frenchman is to Spurs, having kept clean sheets this season and saving two points in two recent goalless draws.

Lloris will not start for Spurs in the EFL Cup tie against Liverpool at Anfield, with Michel Vorm set to step into starting line-up on Tuesday night. However, the Frenchman is expected to return to the starting eleven against Leicester on Saturday.

The Spurs keeper is a world-class individual and can pull off some great saves between the sticks. You just have to look at his save against Bayer Leverkusen to see why Lloris is among the very best in the world and fully deserves his nomination.

‘Absolutely Unreal’ Twitter Amazed By What This Spurs Player Did vs. Bayer Leverkusen

Tottenham had to overcome a large amount of Bayer Leverkusen pressure, especially in the second half to come away from Germany with a point in the Champions League, maintaining second place in Group E.

The save of the night came from Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris, who somehow scrambled across his goal to keep out an effort from Hernandez, where is looked like to the former Manchester United striker simply could not miss. The ball was 50% over the line, but technology shows that all of the ball failed to cross the line.

Spurs grew into the game in the first half, and Dele Alli had a good headed chance to fire Spurs into the lead, but failed to convert. Vincent Janssen, still in search of his first Spurs goal from open play hit the crossbar before Erik Lamela saw his effort tipped over the crossbar.

Leverkusen made a change at half-time, and this worked massively in their favour as they surged forward in the second half, forcing Hugo Lloris into a world-class save and putting the Spurs defence busy, with Danny Rose making a couple of crucial blocks.

Tottenham have the best defensive record in the league, and Lloris has made some huge saves along the way to keep Spurs’ incredible defensive record, conceding just four goals in the Premier League this season.

Spurs certainly have Hugo Lloris to thank for their point in Germany, and many fans took to Twitter to heap praise onto the Frenchman, who made six saves at the BayArena with some labelling the stopper world-class. Here is how Twitter reacted to Lloris’ performance in between the sticks.

There is no doubt that Lloris is one of Tottenham’s most important players and it is essential for Tottenham that if they are to remain in the Champions League and compete with the best clubs that they keep hold of players like Lloris. What he did tonight was just another example of how he can win this club vital points. Without that big save Tottenham would’ve been walking away from this game empty handed and would have been in a difficult position to qualify. I think his performance tonight just backs up the fact that he is a World Class goalkeeper.

‘Immaculate Again’ Fans React To Spurs Midfielder’s Majestic Midfield Display

Spurs could only pick up a point away at West Brom and missed the opportunity to go top of the table ahead of Manchester City. Nacer Chadli came back to haunt his own club and fired his new club into the lead in the 82nd minute, but Dele Alli managed to grab a late point to maintain Spurs’ unbeaten record in the league this campaign.

Despite picking up only a point, Victor Wanyama put in another excellent performance in the midfield as Pochettino decided to deploy the Kenyan in the defensive midfield by himself, setting up the team in a 4-1-4-1 formation.

Wanyama put in a strong performance against league leaders Manchester City a couple of weeks ago, and backed it up with another solid performance, making his £11m transfer fee look like an absolute bargain and is slowly making himself a crucial part of the Spurs team.

The Kenyan managed to complete 95% of his passes in the draw with West Brom, he also created two chances for his teammates. In addition to this, Wanyama complete two take-ons and won 86% of his aerial duels.

Here is how Spurs fans reacted to Wanyama’s midfield performance away at West Brom.

‘I Want To Cry’ Fans React To Spurs Defender’s Worrying Knee Injury At Hawthornes

Spurs failed to take their chances as they managed to salvage a point late on at The Hawthornes. Former Spur Nacer Chadli fired West Brom into the lead eight minutes before time, but Dele Alli managed to snatch a point in the 89th minute to maintain Spurs’ Premier League unbeaten record.

However, the most disappointing thing about the trip to the Midlands might not be the dropped two points, but the fact that Belgian centre-back Toby Alderweireld was stretchered off midway through the second half, unable to continue with a knee injury.

The injury comes at a worrying time for Spurs with a key few weeks coming up in the season. First of all, Spurs travel to Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League in midweek in a crunch fixture before making the trip down to Bournemouth on the following Saturday.

Those two fixtures are followed by a league cup trip to Liverpool, before four days later hosting Leicester City at White Hart Lane. Spurs then return to Wembley for the second time this season to host Bayer Leverkusen in the second instalment of a crucial double-header in the Champions League.

Finally, before the international break, Spurs make the short trip across North London to Arsenal in the first weekend of November. So looking at the fixture list, you can understand why Spurs fans are so worried by the injury of Alderweireld.

Mauricio Pochettino has said that the Belgian will be assessed in the next couple of days, and this is how Spurs fans reacted to the injury news.

‘He’s In Ridiculous Form’ Fans Hail Midfielder On Twitter As Spurs’ 2-1 Win At Middlesbrough

Spurs secured their third straight win since the international break with a nail-biting win at Middlesbrough, eventually coming out 2-1 winners.

Two more goals from Heung-min Son takes his tally for the season up to four as he shone again to fire Spurs to victory at the Riverside Stadium. Middlesbrough pulled a goal back in the second period, but Mauricio Pochettino’s men held on for the three points.

Spurs’ latest win takes them up to second place, four points behind pace-setters Manchester City, who won at Swansea 3-1 today. The two sides face each other next week at White Hart Lane in a mouth-watering clash.

This will be good preparation for the trip to CSKA Moscow in the Champions League on Tuesday night as Eric Dier, Mousa Dembele and Danny Rose, who were injury doubts anyway, were rested at the Riverside.

Spurs fans took to Twitter following the win to hail Spurs’ outstanding unbeaten start to the season, and the tremendous form of Son Heung-min.
