Kane Shines Again- Player Ratings: Asteras Tripolis 1-2 Tottenham

Tottenham survived a late scare to overcome Asteras Tripolis in the Premier League. Harry Kane scored again for Spurs as Federico Fazio picked up another red card in the closing stages of the match. Here are the individual player ratings.

Michel Vorm- 7

Saved well when he needed to and swept up expertly, could’ve maybe saved the penalty but otherwise did well

Ben Davies- 7

Often had a lot of room on the left and did well, passing was very good and produced several good attacks down the left flank early on

Jan Vertonghen- 6

Struggled against the long ball over the top, and especially in the second half he was caught out of position numerous times when the ball came high

Federico Fazio- 6

Also struggled with the long balls, gave away a needless penalty, not much contact but it still put us under pressure late on

Eric Dier- 6

Didn’t do much wrong defensively but was very cautious going forward, looks lost at Right-Back, would surely be better in the Centre of defence

Mousa Dembele- 6

Sometimes excellent with his distribution of the ball but often went missing too many times during the game

Benjamin Stambouli- 7

Kept us very solid in the midfield in the first half, very rarely wasted the ball and won most of his tackles, good display

Erik Lamela- 7

Was effective on both wings, created some good runs, often wasted the final ball when better options were available to him

Andros Townsend- 7

When he switched wings, he delivered some good crosses which troubled Asteras, pace was effective and he took his penalty superbly well

Christian Eriksen- 6

Again, didn’t have a great influence on the game, couldn’t create any chances, passing and fluidity on the ball was better tonight

Ryan Mason- 7

Once again, it was a great performance from Mason coming from the bench, he looked one of our best midfielders and showed why he is a Premier League regular.

Paulinho- 6

Paullinho was sent on with instructions to stay solid and close out the game, no impact was made by the Brazilian.

Roberto Soldado- 6

He had a whole half to get into the game, but he struggledd to have an impact on the game throughout the 45 minutes that he was on the field.

Harry Kane- 8

Another very good showing from Harry, constant threat in our attacks, neatly taken goal as well, must start vs Stoke on Sunday, keep it up, Harry!

Chadli And Kane Earn Spurs Win: Aston Villa 1-2 Spurs: Player Ratings

Tottenham certainly left it late to snatch three points from Aston Villa at Villa Park. An 83rd minute equalizer from Nacer Chadli and a 90th minute free-kick from substitute Harry Kane got us the three points in a feisty affair that saw Christian Benteke sent off after laying a hand on Ryan Mason.

Hugo Lloris- 7

Helpless for Villa’s goal there was no chance of him saving that, saved well afterwards when he needed to and swept up expertly as usual.

Danny Rose- 6

Often had a lot of room on the left but was too wasteful in his crosses, Got caught out of position several time as well

Jan Vertonghen- 6

Was often too carless in defence, had lots of problems against Benteke for the first half, not very impressive today

Younes Kaboul- 6

Also struggled marking Benteke, often panicked with very nervous clearances and didn’t show much solidity for large parts of the game at the back

Kyle Naughton- 6

Didn’t do much wrong defensively but was very cautious going forward, very nervous in his tackles as well, got overrun by Weimann on several occasions

Etienne Capoue- 5

Very disappointing today, failed to clear the cross for Villa’s goal, lost possession too often and kept getting overrun by Villa, game passed him by

Ryan Mason- 8

Kept  us from going further behind, only man who was driving the ball forward, and trying to get us back into the game, very rarely wasted the ball and won most of his tackles

Nacer  Chadli- 7

Was effective on both wings, created some good runs, scored at the crucial time for us which helped us win, solid showing

Andros Townsend- 6

Wasn’t on for long but he delivered some good crosses which troubled Villa, pace was effective cutting open Villa’s defence, won the free-kick for our winner too

Christian Eriksen- 5

Very poor showing, didn’t have a great influence on the game, couldn’t create any chances, very poor game by his standards

Erik Lamela- 6

Struggled to make an impact for much of the 2nd half, made some driving runs to create chances but wasn’t effective enough in the final third

Emmanuel Adebayor- 6

Had two golden chances that he should’ve scored, but wasted, drifted offside too often, wasn’t as strong in the air as he usually is

Roberto Soldado- 7

Had a couple of solid chances that he should’ve done better, looked much more comfortable playing in a 2 and worked well with both Adebayor and Kane

Harry Kane 8:

Made a fantastic impact when he came on, looked more positive in our attacks, gave Villa’s defence trouble with his pace and strength and brilliant goal to win it, keep it up, Harry

Lamela The Difference: Player Ratings: Spurs 2-0 Brighton

Michel Vorm- 6

He wasn’t called upon too often, but when he was, he rose to the task sufficiently. He looked a bit sloppy early on, that was shown when he passed the ball straight out of play for a corner.

Kyle Naughton- 7

I thought Kyle had a really good game returning from injury. He showed real attacking intent when moving up the pitch, and didn’t forget his defensive duties, allowing little down his wing.

Jan Vertonghen- 6

Jan made a couple of surging runs forward and allowed little past him for the whole ninety minutes. He made a last ditch tackle when the scores were locked at 0-0.

Federico Fazio- 6

He had much the same performance as Vertonghen on the night. He could have used his height more to get on the end of some good crosses that were delivered in at times from corners.

Ben Davies- 6

Ben looked pretty solid at the back, but when getting forward he looked hesitant when getting forward and didn’t quite know what to do when he burst into attacking positions.

Benjamin Stambouli- 6

He linked up play well in the middle of the park and had one shot early on that fizzed wide of the mark. Other than that, it was another strong performance from the summer signing.

Mousa Dembele- 6

Moussa played much like Stambouli in the middle, but we need to see more of those driving strong runs that we used to see from the Belgian that caused defences trouble.

Andros Townsend- 5

It wasn’t really one his best nights as he failed to get good crosses into the box. I felt that he was also quite wasteful when cutting inside and shooting like he usually does.

Nacer Chadli- 5

He didn’t really have too much of an impact on the game after coming on off the bench.  He lost the ball with his first touch, but made some surging runs in the closing stages.

Aaron Lennon- 6

He came off at half-time as he seemed to have picked up a knock, but in the 45 minutes that he did play, he performed generally well, creating some chances and getting into some good positions.

Erik Lamela- 8

He turned the game on its head after coming on for Lennon. He brought some trickery and pace to the game and latched onto a Roberto Soldado pass  to score his goal with a neat finish.

Harry Kane- 7

He contributed with another goal to see us to a well-earned victory. This wasn’t one of his better performances, but he looked good in the first half and showed strikers instinct for his goal.

Paulinho-  N/A

The Brazilian was only on the pitch for little over five minutes, and only managed to string a few passes together.

Roberto Soldado- 6

It was a frustrating night for Soldado. He was making the right runs, but not receiving the ball, which disheartened him a bit. He hit the crossbar and again, his link-up play was good.
