Tottenham have ‘intense interest’ in signing Ligue 1 midfielder this summer

Tottenham are looking to change up their squad ahead of the Premier League season and it looks like Mourinho could be looking at a new midfielder from Ligue 1.

Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur have intense interest in Ivorian midfielder and Toulouse man Ibrahim Sangaré, according to colleague Mohamed Toubache-TER [via GFFN].

The report suggests that Toulouse do not feel under pressure to sell him, but if they were to come to the negotiating table, a fee of between €15m to €20m excluding bonuses will be the target. That seems a figure that Tottenham would be able to reach, even in the challenging Covid financial environment.

Spurs will need some new midfielders as the club lacked the players necessary to control games last season, often on the back foot and having to play on the break. There’s also lack of depth in that area of the pitch and with a challenging, heavy scheduled season to come, Spurs will need more numbers this season.

If there wasn’t a need already, then if a potential swap deal of Skrniar and Ndombele takes place, Spurs will certainly have a void of central midfielders.
