Report: Tottenham to sign International striker ‘next week’

Tottenham have been active in the transfer window this summer already, but it seems they may be about to spring a surprise with some further action in the market ahead of the new season.

Spurs have been hunting for an adequate alternative to Harry Kane for some time, and it seems they may finally have found a quality striker to compete with the Englishman.

That is according to Football Insider, who suggests that the club are closing in on the signing of Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik, they even say a deal should be completed next week. Later in the article they go on to say that Spurs have only held ‘tentative’ talks with Milik and he is being assessed amongst a number of options, including Callum Wilson, recently relegated with Bournemouth.

We traced this rumour back a little and it seems to originate from a report in Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, who said a couple of weeks ago that Napoli were asking £36million for the striker. However they say Spurs are not willing to pay that price and that Napoli could reduce it to around £27million.

Milik is a 26-year-old 6ft 1′ striker with 49 caps for Poland, scoring 14 in the process. He’s also played nearly 100 games for Napoli, netting 38 times since arriving from Ajax in 2016 for 35million euros.
