Report: Tottenham set to beat Arsenal and Liverpool to bargain signing

Spurs look like they may be close to their first ‘summer’ signing according to reports in the papers in the last 24 hours.

We’ve already talked about how Spurs may have to look at free and loan signings this summer and it seems they may be set to sign a free agent in Ryan Fraser. The Bournemouth midfielder is set to be a free agent from June 30 and Mourinho appears ready to pounce.

Arsenal and Liverpool have been linked before, but Mikel Arteta could feasibly now be looking for a different profile of player. Mourinho will like the tenacious attitude of Fraser, who has the ability to be very effective in transition.

Last year we wrote about why Tottenham should try to beat Arsenal to the signing of Fraser.

Now, according to The Mirror, Spurs have emerged as serious contenders to secure the signing of Fraser. Few have managed as many assists as the 26-year-old in Premier League recent years and his ability to create goals would certainly be welcome in the Tottenham squad.

Tottenham often rotate their wide players and Fraser joining would give the team yet another option. He’s best on the left-wing, but also more than capable at playing as a number 10 or on the right-wing. His tenacity and pace would fit in really well at Tottenham and provide the squad with some much-needed depth.

Securing the signing of Fraser now would be wise, with more clubs likely to be actively seeking free transfers this summer due to the financial issues caused by the coronavirus.
