Spurs should beat Arsenal to sign superb French international

Tottenham have not shocked many by so far being quiet in the transfer market. Pochettino’s hands have been tied for some time and so far there is yet to be any serious movement at the club, once again.

According to SoccerLink, the Premier League is a possible destination for Paris Saint Germain defender Presnel Kimpembe.

The 23-year-old has been far from Tuchel’s first choice this season, with Thiago Silva and Marquinhos often preferred in a defensive pairing. Thilo Kehrer is also an option and with Matthias De Ligt set to arrive in Paris, Kimpembe is likely to be pushed further down the pecking order.

Don’t let that deceive you though, the young defender is a very talented player with plenty of time to continue improving, under the right guidance.

Despite his young age, the Frenchman played a key part in his countries successful World Cup and has managed more than 60 senior games for PSG, a club he has played for since the age of 10!

But with De Ligt now set to arrive it seems Kimpembe could be sold and if so, Spurs should move quickly to beat Arsenal to his signature. The Gunners will be keen to improve their defensive options for next season but with Vertonghen 32 and Alderweireld 30, Spurs cannot afford to turn down a chance to sign a young defender of such good quality.

Spurs have the pull of Champions League football, something Arsenal cannot offer following their dismal end to the season.

Whilst Kimpembe is best known for playing as a central defender, he is also capable of playing as a left back. This versatility would be great for Pochettino who loves to tweak his systems and personnel depending on opponents.

Kimpembe is a pass master and averaged 93.6% pass success rate in the league last season, with over 60 passes per game. This would make him the focal point of the defence and enable the team to control the game from the back.
