2 – Eric Bailly
If United sign Alderweireld, then with Jones, Smalling and Lindelof, their central defence looks fairly crowded. Bailly has been left out of the team recently and I think Mourinho would be willing to part with the Ivorian if it meant the Alderweireld deal got over the line. In my opinion, Bailly is a top young player and could form a great defence alongside Vertonghen and Sanchez. I think he’s a ready-made replacement and would excel under Pochettino.
Bailly is just 24, 5 years younger than Toby, and in that time I think he could definitely develop to Toby’s level. Valued at around £35million, Spurs could demand a deal of around £40million + Bailly – which in my opinion would be a great deal for the club, especially considering Toby wants to leave.
