Daniel Levy and Mauricio Pochettino have been disappointingly inactive this summer and look as if they are leaving it late to secure key deals in what is a very important season for the Lilywhites at the National stadium.

Spurs have brought three new players in through the door, defender Davinson Sanchez for a club record fee of £42m, Southampton goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga and another defender in youngster Juan Foyth. They look look adding a fourth signing early on in deadline day in PSG’s Serge Aurier after he was granted a work permit yesterday.

Despite making three signings, close to making a fourth, none of those have strengthened the attacking areas of the squad. The likes of Christian Eriksen and Heung-min Son have produced fairly uninspiring performances this season, and highlights the need for them to be pushed. The deadline day signing of Demarai Gray, Angel Di Maria or even Ross Barkley might just help to do this.

It has emerged in the last couple of days that Vincent Janssen’s time at Tottenham could well be coming to a premature end after the striker admitted that he was unhappy with his situation at Spurs. He has become frustrated with the lack of playing time that he has been getting and could look for a move elsewhere to get more playing time.

With Stoke and West Brom both interested, Spurs would need to get a replacement in before the transfer window shuts at 11pm tonight, and are considering a last gasp move for Swansea striker Fernando Llorente. Chelsea have been monitoring the striker all summer and have been in pole position to sign the front man for some time.

However, the Mirror report that Tottenham are preparing to ghost in and beat their London rivals to the signature of Llorente, with Vincent Janssen underperforming and not providing sufficient backup for Harry Kane. In the same report, it states that Swansea will not sell Llorente until they have secured the deal that will see Wilfred Bony return to the Liberty Stadium.
