This is a story that has been brewing for the whole of the summer transfer window, and it will come to its conclusion on deadline day. Chelsea and Tottenham are in the mix, but where will he end up at 11pm today?

After refusing to sign a new contract with the Toffees, Ronald Koeman insisted that the attacking midfielder would be sold this summer with Everton holding out for £40m. To confuse matters even more, Koeman is now unsure whether Barkley will be sold, and the midfielder now has picked up an injury that could keep him out for most of this year.

Chelsea have reportedly made a £25m bid, and it is believed that Everton are asking for £35m at the very least for the England international. Tottenham’s business this summer has been very defensively focused and there has been a distinct lack of signings in the attacking areas. Could this be their man?

Despite being an under-performer at Everton over the past couple of seasons, Mauricio Pochettino remains adamant that he can bring the best out of Barkley as he has done with many other young players.
