Spurs Set To Fail In Big Money Pursuit Of Attacker Who Looks To Stay Put

Tottenham are more than likely to miss out on top summer target Josh King, who looks as if he will stay at Dean Court beyond the end of the summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old striker managed to bag sixteen goals last term in the Premier League alone, and this impressive form has reportedly caught the eye of Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino as he looks to strengthen in the striking department ahead of a potential title charge next season.

The front man is valued at £30m, and Spurs would have to fork out at least this sum of money if they are to secure the services of King ahead of a temporary move to Wembley while the construction of the new White Hart Lane is completed.

However, the player himself is unsure that a move to Tottenham would be the best move for his career according to The Sun. The striker is fully aware that he needs regular game time in order to develop as a player, and is reportedly unsure that he would get this at Tottenham. Harry Kane is the first choice striker, and Josh King sees no way of getting regular game time ahead of the England international.

The Sun also suggest that Everton have made an inquiry for the Bournemouth man as they prepare for what could be life without star striker Romelu Lukaku, but King is not desperate to leave the south coast club, where he is guaranteed regular game time under Eddie Howe.

Harry Kane had another brilliant season for Spurs as he still managed to scoop the golden boot despite a couple of spells out through injury, but Spurs were lacking in options instead of the 23-year-old. Vincent Janssen arrived last summer for £17m but failed to hit the ground running, netting just twice in the Premier League last term, one of those coming from the penalty spot.

Heung-min Son has been experimented with up top by himself, and with some success it has to be said, but it would be a wise decision to bring in another recognised striker as the future of struggling Vincent Janssen remains in the balance, with a move to Borussia Monchengladbach potentially on the cards.

Bringing in another striker over the summer to provide back up for Harry Kane would definitely be a good decision, but it looks increasingly unlikely that Josh King will be the next player to arrive at Hotspur Way as he looks set to stay at Bournemouth, where he is guaranteed regular first team minutes.
