As mentioned earlier, Mauricio Pochettino will be keen to add to his defensive options in this summer transfer window, and reports suggest that Spurs could be close to completing their first summer signing as early as this week, claim the London Evening Standard.

Foyth made four appearances for the first team at Estudiantes last term, and some might be worried by his lack of experience, but given Pochettino’s previous success with young players, Spurs could be onto a winner with the teenager, who could cost somewhere in the region of £10m.

Spurs spotted the 19-year-old playing for Argentina in the Under-20s World Cup last month and were reportedly impressed by his performances. Estudiantes president Juan Veron will fly to Italy for talks regarding a potential move this week, and if successful, Spurs might clinch their first signing of this summer window.

Kevin Wimmer could be on the move in the off-season, and Pochettino will be keen to ensure he has sufficient cover before he allows the Austrian to make his move away.
