The 3-5-2 Starting XI Mauricio Pochettino Must Play If Spurs Are To Beat Chelsea

Chelsea pay a visit to White Hart Lane on fire. They have won their last thirteen games in the Premier League, and are bidding to break Arsenal’s record of consecutive wins. A win for Spurs however not only helps other teams in the title race, but also hauls themselves into contention.

It’s a massive game in the context of this season, and here is the starting eleven that Mauricio Pochettino should name in a 3-5-2 formation if Spurs are to win this game.

GK: Hugo Lloris

Goes without saying that Hugo should start in between the sticks. He is a top quality goalkeeper and Spurs will need his saves if they are going to take all three points.

CB: Eric Dier

Mr. Versatile might have to slot in at centre-back here. It will be between him and Kevin Wimmer for a starting spot at the back if Pochettino decides to play with a three at the back formation.

CB: Toby Alderweireld

After a patchy season so far in terms of injuries, we hope that the Belgian has an injury-free rest of the season. He looked solid against Watford, and we hope for more of the same here.

CB: Jan Vertonghen

We have seen many interesting battles between Jan Vertonghen and Diego Costa over the last couple of years, and it is likely that he will be man-marking him again. The defence will need to be strong if Spurs are to get a result against Antonio Conte’s side.

RWB: Kyle Walker

Pochettino might look to match Chelsea in their formation, and deploy wing-backs. Kyle Walker will look to get forward and cause problems, getting crosses into the box. But as we know, Walker is more than capable defensively should he be needed back.

LWB: Danny Rose

Rose has been playing very well in the last few weeks, and will be trusted in playing a similar role to Kyle Walker but on the left-hand side. Spurs were exposed for the second goal at Stamford Bridge on the Chelsea right, and Rose will look to eliminate the possibility of this happening again.
