Spurs come up against Chelsea in a mammoth clash at White Hart Lane on Wednesday night. With a win, Chelsea can beat Arsenal’s record of thirteen consecutive wins in the league and go eight points clear at the top of the Premier League. A Spurs win would see the gap stay at five and keep Spurs and others in the race for the title.
Kyle Walker and Jan Vertonghen are available again after they served their suspensions against Watford, whilst Erik Lamela remains out with a hip problem. Here is the Spurs predicted line-up.
GK: Hugo Lloris
Hugo would have been disappointed not to have kept a clean sheet on New Year’s Day against Watford, conceding in stoppage time. It is pretty much guaranteed that he will start here.
RB: Kyle Walker
Kieran Trippier really impressed me and many others when he stepped in on Sunday, providing two assists for the opening goals. However, this game against Chelsea will be more of a physical battle, which Walker is more suited to in my opinion.
CB: Jan Vertonghen
Vertonghen will be rested up nicely after his suspension that ruled him out of the Watford game. He will have his hands full here against Chelsea, that is for sure.
CB: Toby Alderweireld
Alderweireld has had a shaky few months. He spent a lengthy spell on the sidelines with various injuries. He returned to the starting line-up momentarily, but then was ruled out of the Southampton game with a virus. However, he returned against Watford, and all being well, he should start here.
LB: Danny Rose
Rose has been on fire in recent games. He has been a huge threat going forward recently, but he will have to aware of his defensive duties if Mauricio Pochettio plays a four at the back system. He was rested in the second half against Watford, suggesting that he will start at White Hart Lane on Wednesday.
